Wartime jewels tin the Crown
THE Crown Jewels were hidden in a biscuit tin at Windsor Castle during Word War II, it has been revealed.
The gems were stashed at an exit from the castle on the orders of King George VI.
The Queen was told about the move by royal commentator Alastair Bruce in an interview for BBC1 documentary, The Coronation, to be shown on Sunday.
He said: “What was so lovely was that the Queen had no knowledge of it.”
