Lenny: Gray’s season could be over
From Back Page damage is not yet clear but Lennon fears the worst for his season and admits he may now have to delve into the transfer market for another full-back. Lennon said: “I think it is a bad one. He felt something pop and that’s always a really bad sign. It could be devastating for us and him so we will have to wait and see what the prognosis is when we get back.
“It’s heartbreaking – it’s one of those innocuous things. I think it is pretty serious and a real blow. He will be in a boot to keep it stable for a couple of days.
“I don’t think there’s much we can really do until we get him home and assessed. He may need surgery on it and if that is the case he’ll probably be out for the season. We don’t really know if it’s a rupture or a tear.
“This could possibly change what I do in the transfer market now. Steven Whittaker has also been struggling with his pelvis.
“We’ve been going with Efe Ambrose for the last few weeks. He does a good job but it’s not ideal. We may have to look at that when we get back.”
