‘Whatever Dembele is worth, Morelos is worth at least double. His work-rate is much better. I can’t see us holding on to him’

going to win the league or anyhing like that but there are positive signs.”

Russell Martin looks set to become the third Rangers player to join in January as he prepares to seal a loan deal from Norwich this week.

As they look to strengthen further, Ian Loudon said: “I watched the Sheffield derby and reckon Rangers could do worse than bring John Fleck back. He ran the midfield for the Blades.”

But Fleck is no Scott Brown and Paul Keenan emailed: “I’ve got to laugh at the Rangers fans clambering to put the boot into Brown.

“How they would love to have had such tenacity and leadership from a serial winner over the last decade.”

Criticism for Brown came as he waits before making a final decision on his international future but he is the first name on Celtic’s team sheet and that has limited Olivier Ntcham’s game time.

James Forrest emailed: “I can’t believe Brendan Rodgers saying Ntcham can be a driving force who can help steer Celtic to a double Treble.

“What does he have to do to get in the team ahead of Scott Brown, Stuart Armstrong, Callum McGregor and Tom Rogic?”

Midfield is less of a concern than defence for Celtic fans and Pat Thompson, Parkhead, said: “Rodgers was making the point Celtic didn’t progress far in Europe even they had someone like Virgil van Dijk. What’s that got to do with it? Fans aren’t happy with the defence and he should spend big to strengthen and prove Peter Lawwell isn’t pulling the strings.”

Derek McInnes insists Celtic should be winning the Treble every season with their resources.

But Denis Bruce, Bishopbriggs, said: “McInnes is trying to wind up Celtic and their fans by saying not landing a second Treble this season will be failure.

“To land one Treble is amazing but to do it back-to-back would be a miracle. All Celtic fans demand of the team is they continue to play attacking football to the final whistle in every game.”
