FLOS CAN CLEAN UP

- GARRY OWEN racing@dailyrecord.co.uk

PROTEK DES FLOS (3.15) looks a safe bet in the Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle at Huntingdon.

Nicky Henderson’s gelding was a Grade Two winner on his British debut two years ago and produced his best effort since when bolting up at Wincanton on Boxing Day.

The JP McManus-owned sixyear-old wasn’t stopping over 2m 5f on heavy ground and should improve over this easy 3m 1f.

THE FLAME (2.05) can burn bright for Jonjo O’Neill in the ‘National Nunt’ Novices’ Hurdle.

The grey recorded a personal best over timber when third over two miles at Stratford in November and can come on plenty over an extra four furlongs.

The handler can double up with CLOTH CAP (3.50).

The six-year-old scored in emphatic style over course and distance in last month’s handicap debut and remains on a workable mark thanks to John O’Neill’s 7lb claim. Charlie Longsdon’s MASTERPLAN (2.40) can win a trappy Education Network Chase.

The eight-year-old has a decent record over fences and remains fairly treated after his second to Chef D’Equipe at Sandown.

PERFECT HARMONY (1.25) can boost Alan King’s fine course record in the maiden at Doncaster.

The six-year-old chased home the classy Count Meribel in a red-hot novice contest at Ascot in November and should go one better dropped in grade.

CAPARD KING (3.05) can give Team O’Neill more glory in the three-mile handicap chase.

The nine-year-old caught the eye when third to Mister Don over course and distance and can cross first on likely softer ground.

David Dennis’ PEPPAY LE PUGH (3.40) is the call in a competitive novices’ hurdle.

The gelding was unlucky to face easy winner Vado Forte at Warwick last time and can build on that for his in-form handler.

And ONE OF US (4.10) can maintain Nick Williams’ winning run in the closing three-miler. The six-year-old has been largely progressive as a hurdler and remains unexposed over staying trips after his game win at Ascot.

■ Presenting Percy (9-4 JtFav) made a winning return to timber in the Grade Two Galmoy Hurdle at Gowran.

Patrick Kelly’s gelding always travelled well under Davy Russell and stormed clear to beat Augusta Kate by an impressive five lengths.

The seven-year-old is now 4-1 favourite to make a successful return to fences in the RSA Chase at the Festival in March.
