I NEED TO GET BACK IN THE RING COS I’VE GOT PRESSING ENGAGEMENT

BOXING FLYNN LOVE

- MICHAEL GANNON

GLASGOW Commonwealth Games hero Charlie Flynn is looking to celebrate his engagement by sparkling in the ring.

The 24-year-old went down on one knee on Hogmanay but aims to get back on his feet in the boxing ring after 18 months of injury hell.

Flynn will return to the scene of his gold medal glory in 2014 when he steps out at the Hydro on the undercard of Josh Taylor’s clash with Humberto Soto on March 3.

So he is looking forward to both walking down the aisle and winning major titles.

Flynn said: “I got engaged at Hogmanay to Amber. Having extra responsibilities adds to the importance of it all so I need to start moving up the rankings.”

The lightweight won over Scottish fans at the Games but has spent more time talking than fighting recently after being hired by companies to rally their employees. Now it’s time to talk himself up.

Flynn said: “I did a lot of motivational speaking for companies and also a lot of schools. But it can be hard motivating yourself at times when you suffer knockbacks.

“Once I get momentum going, I’ll be unstoppable. A couple of big wins and I’ll be right back into it.

“I only do schools now, anything else depends on the time and place. If it interferes too much it gets cut out.

“I want to remind people about Charlie Flynn the boxer
