LET’S PUT THIS TO BEDLAM

RUGBY SIX NATIONS COUNTDOWN

-

JOHN BARCLAY insists Scotland aim to bring a brand of organised chaos to their Six Nations campaign.

The Dark Blues skipper believes the intensity of training and licence for self expression under head coach Gregor Townsend should have Wales expecting the unexpected next weekend.

All eyes will turn to the Principality Stadium in Cardiff a week tomorrow as the Scots begin their campaign.

And Barclay has promised plenty of mayhem over the coming two months.

He said: “Training under Gregor is different, it is stressful.

“It is a different dynamic of constantly changing scenarios and different drills.

“It is never mundane or the same thing – which I love.

“Sometimes if you have played a while it can become repetitive so it is great to do different things, especially if it transfers out on to the pitch.

“It’s a style of organised chaos and it suits the way the boys like to play.

“That is the most exciting thing as a player, if it transfers out on the pitch what you do in training. That is extremely rewarding.

“It did against New Zealand with the chaos we caused them in the autumn Test. Those last two minutes are a good example.

“Although we did not score in the end, in those two minutes we ran them the length of the pitch.

“We had some guys earning their second caps against the best defence in the world.

“It was not necessarily structured play but that is how we all practise to cause chaos.”

Scotland are gearing up for an opener against Warren Gatland’s men with the tag of being the tournament’s dark horses after an impressive three-match autumn series.

But the Scarlets flanker won’t be buying too much into the pre-tournament praise.

He said: “It is nice and it is

It’s a style of organised chaos and it suits us. That is the most exciting part of it JOHN BARCLAY
