ROCKERS Kasabian have backed a bid to salvage a Scots fishing boat which sank with two crewmen aboard.

The band retweeted an appeal for funds to raise the 40ft Nancy Glen and support the families of missing fan Duncan MacDougall, 46, and Przemek Krawczyk.

The campaign had yesterday raised more than £150,000 – smashing its initial £50,000 target.

The Tarbert-based prawn trawler overturned with the two men trapped inside near Barmore Island on Loch Fyne last week.

The boat capsized shortly after a distress call was sent out at around 6pm on January 18.

A third crewman, John Miller, 34, escaped and was rescued by the crew of a passing boat.

Coastguard teams searched the loch’s shores with the help of the Tarbert fishing fleet but there was no sign of the missing men.

The appeal fund set up by the Clyde Fishermen’s Association and Nicky MacDougall got in touch with Kasabian on Twitter to tell them Duncan was one of their biggest fans.

The band, fronted by singer Tom Meighan, then retweeted the appeal to their 366,000 followers.

Nicky thanked them for their support, tweeting: “You have no idea how much it means to us to have you help us out.

“Every comment and retweet takes us one step closer to getting the boys back home.”

US president Donald Trump “favourited” the appeal on Twitter and Everton FC defender Phil Jagielka, right, asked his followers to help, sharing a photo of Duncan in the team strip.

Famous Scots such as Sir Chris Hoy and Judy Murray have retweeted the appeal.

Locals in the Tarbert area are organising their own fundraisers and a restaurant offered free food to anyone who helped in the search.
