BRITNEY Spears fans were disappointed yesterday when the website selling tickets for her UK tour crashed – but it didn’t stop the touts.

Hundreds of tickets were hoovered up by the rip-off merchants and were soon being offered for sale on secondary sites for vastly inflated prices.

Two front-row tickets for Britney’s Glasgow show on August 22 were being touted on Viagogo for £1100 each yesterday.

Another secondary site, Get Me In, were offering more than 140 tickets for the Hydro event, with seats close to the stage costing £880 each.

The American star has a string of summer dates lined up in the UK.

Fans with access to pre-sale tickets for the Piece of Me tour flooded the website of official sellers Live Nation at 9am yesterday.

But the site crashed and by the time it was back up, many fans found the tickets were sold out.

One fan wrote on Twitter: “Devastated that the @LiveNationUK website crashed while I was trying to get @britneyspears tickets.”

Another wrote: “First webpage crashed, now no tickets left, you just killed me.”

A third tweeted: “@britneyspears has crashed @LiveNationUK website! Staring at a white screen for 15mins, a bag of nerves waiting for it to change.”

Another wrote: “Your website crashed on me at exactly 9am... it’s now 9.11 and I can’t even get on your page. Sort it out – we need to see Britney!”

secondary sellers’ websites wrote: “Absolutely disgusting! @LiveNationUK, your website crashed for 20 mins dead on 9am, then when it finally came back on, all tickets to @britneyspears were sold out. But hey, @viagogo have got hundreds of tickets for double the price. How is this fair?”

General ticket sales were due to start at 10am today.

The Daily Record’s Stub Out the Touts campaign has exposed how touts make a fortune by using technology to grab huge numbers of tickets before selling them with extortionate mark-ups.
