LEAGUE ONE

BOBBY BARR has told his Raith team-mates not to panic because they have the bottle for a title battle.

Rovers lost 1-0 at Stranraer last week but still hold a onepoint lead over Ayr United at the top and the additional security of a game in hand.

Defeat at Stair Park was the first for Barry Smith’s boys since mid-November and midfielder Barr is backing his team to go on another run, starting today at Alloa.

He said: “We didn’t see last week’s defeat coming but it was a bad day at the office.

“It’s nothing to get too downhearted about.

“The reality is we won’t win every game we play this season and it was one bad week as we’ve been pretty consistent otherwise.

“It looks as if it will be between Ayr and us for the title. It has been neck and neck and that probably won’t change with 15 games left.

“We have to do our speaking on the park and hopefully a victory against Alloa can set us off on another run of wins.

“The majority of points we’ve dropped in the league this season have been away from Stark’s Park. We have to address that.”

While Alloa were going down 2-0 to Dundee United in the Scottish Cup last weekend, they were leapfrogged by Stranraer in the league and dropped out the play off spots.

But manager Jim Goodwin said: “The lads have been excellent for the last three months with only three league defeats in 12 games.”
