Accies to sue RBS over £1m swindle

Bank claim club were warned about theft

HAMILTON are planning legal action against the Royal Bank of Scotland after £1million was swiped from the club’s bank account.

The Premiership side claim RBS are jointly responsible for allowing dozens of payments to be made to fraudsters in October and should stump up £400,000 of the lost cash.

But the bank are adamant they are not

ANTONIO CONTE is refusing to quit as Chelsea manager despite the growing crisis at the club.

Conte’s position remains perilous but the Italian has made it clear he will not walk away even though the pressure is mounting on him at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have insisted they are still supportive of their manager and have no plans to sack him – even after the humiliating 4-1 defeat at Watford on Monday night.

They also moved to deny reports from Spain that Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia has met former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique who is the bookies’ favourite to succeed Conte.

Conte, 48, who still has 18 months left to run on his £9million-a-year contract, had also voiced his frustrations about the club’s transfer policy and the poor defence of their Premier League title.

But Chelsea’s view is while they are still in the top four, still in the Champions League and FA Cup they fully intend to stick with Conte.

It would only be if they were out of all the competitions and in serious danger of missing out on a place in the top four they may be prompted to act.

But Blues owner Roman Abramovich is not believed to be in London and the club have said Conte’s position was not discussed yesterday

The Chelsea boss had always planned to give the players a day off yesterday but, in the wake of the Watford defeat, he then decided to give them a three-day rest.

That has been seen as Conte’s response after listening to his players following a spate of injuries because of his rigorous training programme – with nine players having suffered hamstring problems this term.

Conte’s men will now face bottom-of-the-table West Brom on Monday, Hull in the FA Cup and Barcelona in the Champions League.

After that their next two Premier League games are against Manchester United and Manchester City.

Conte’s position will then be a lot clearer but the club are insistent his position is not in immediate danger and he appears to have been given a reprieve.
