When I go for my check-ups they call me a geriatric mother

Her second pregnancy has left Cat Deeley a little worried about her ‘high risk’ baby but she’s more concerned about two-year-old Milo’s reaction

CAT Deeley has admitted her second pregnancy has made her more “emotional and hormonal”.

The 41-year-old announced in January she and husband Patrick Kielty, 46, were having another baby to join two-year-old Milo.

A Los Angeles resident since she began hosting So You Think You Can Dance in the US from 2006, Cat is currently filming a Stateside-version of Davina McCall’s This Time Next Year, which follows people wanting to change their lives.

She said of her pregnancy: “It definitely makes you slightly more emotional and hormonal.

“I’ve been OK for morning sickness. I haven’t been too bad at all. Some of

the roads were a bit windy over Benedict Canyon (an area in the west side of LA) at times but no, I’m all good.”

Cat has revealed she hasn’t told Milo he’s going to be a big brother and is worried because he’s a bit rough.

She said: “I’m starting with the dog. I’ve got a lovely dog called Lily, who’s really gentle. But sometimes he grabs her skin – not on purpose – but he is just trying to love her.”

Cat has admitted Milo is a little bruiser.

“He gave me a black eye,” she said. “He hit me with the ukulele – and it went all black and yellow and purple.

“He then threw sand in the eye so I went blinded for 10 minutes. So I’m really hoping this child survives!”

Last year, Cat admitted she wanted more children but the pressure was on because of her age.

She hadn’t given up on being a mum again but doctors weren’t so sure and deemed her a high risk.

She admitted: “When you go for your check-ups they call you a ‘geriatric mum’. That is the terminology they use, I swear. They say, “Ma’am, you are triple high risk”.

Finding the partner she wanted to have a family with in the first place took a while – and he was standing right in front of her.

The presenter first met comedian Patrick when they presented Fame Academy together. They built a friendship before realising it was something more, tying the knot in Italy in 2012.

She said: “It was quite knock-your-socks off for both of us. It all happened very quickly because we were older and comfortable in our own skin.”

Cat was one of TV’s golden girls in the 90s, hosting SM:TV Live with Ant & Dec and spin-off chart show CD:UK. She moved on with Fame Academy and Stars in Their Eyes before the US came calling with So You Think You Can Dance.

But last year, Cat returned to the UK to present Sky One’s talent contest Sing: Ultimate A Capella and a U2 gig for the BBC.

Now she’s back with This Time Next Year, which follows the journeys of ordinary people as they embark on extraordinary missions to change their lives over 12 months, from having a baby to losing weight or overcoming an illness.

The first series is currently showing in America and Cat is filming the second series.

Cat said: “I love people in general. I remember one of the first ones in the UK. “There was a guy

who struggled with stuttering his entire life and his challenge was to go back to his high school and speak publicly.

“I sat on my bed and cried and cried and cried and was like, ‘Yes, I would like to be a part of this show please.’

“I think that’s what we want to hear right now – we want to hear stories that are challenging and inspiring and bring out the best in human beings rather than the worst in human beings.”

While nothing is confirmed, it looks like there will be a 20th anniversary SM:TV Live show taking place in August.

Ant & Dec have confirmed that ITV have agreed to do it, with studio time and writers booked, and Cat is on board.

But she’s also hoping So You Think You Can Dance will be recommissioned meaning 2018 will be quite the year for the West Bromwich-born star.

She said: “I’m hoping so. This would be season 15.

“I came here 12 years ago and I loved the idea of the show but I had no clue it would still be going, so we just have to wait and see.”

I sat on my bed and cried was like, ‘Yes, I would like to be a part of this show please’
