Glasgow Rocked by Garbelotto’s exit
It’s time for me to belt up says Chris
TONY GARBELOTTO is out as head coach at Glasgow Rocks, Scotland and Great Britain amid a shock sequence of events that stunned British basketball yesterday.
The 49-year-old Englishman, who was due to lead the Scots into the Commonwealth Games, met with Basketball Scotland chief executive Kevin Pringle on Tuesday and was told his contract was being terminated. It is understood he subsequently tendered his resignation with GB who appointed him only last year.

CHRIS EUBANK Jr believes he’ll become the No.1 super-middleweight in the world if he overcomes George Groves in their world title showdown this weekend.
Groves is making the second defence of his WBA crown at the Manchester Arena on Saturday night while his younger British foe is putting his lesser-regarded IBO strap on the line.
A place in the final of the World Boxing Super Series final is also at stake and Eubank Jr accepts this could be the bout that moves him out of his famous father and namesake’s shadow as he eyes hoovering up all the belts in the 168lbs division.
He said at the pre-fight press conference: “This is completed to satisfy due process, sources close to Garbelotto confirmed last night he is not expected to return to his role.
The circumstances surrounding the surprise move remain shrouded in mystery with Garbelotto thought to be consulting legal advice.
“All I can say at this point is that Darryl Wood will be coaching the team in Worcester on Friday,” said Rocks owner Duncan Smillie. “Tony is at home for personal reasons.”
Garbelotto, who declined to comment, had been absent from practice for the past two days with players only informed of his removal yesterday.

a defining fight for me, this is the fight that can propel me to the top of the sport, it gives me the right to say I am legitimately the best super-middleweight in the world.
“Two world titles, that’s every fighter’s dream and it’s just the beginning – it’s collection season, I’m coming for all the belts.”
Groves quipped Eubank Jr will “probably blame his dad and move back down to middleweight” if he loses. He added: “Junior is flapping already, he is a cliche, he is a gimmick. I’ve been here, I’ve done this many, many times. This is just another step along my journey.”
