We’ve been Miles better since nicking win

- EUAN McLEAN

ALAN ARCHIBALD admits his Partick Thistle side robbed Dundee with the last-gasp winner that gave the Jags their first glimmer of hope in a dark season.

But he has no intention of redressing the injustice today when they welcome their victims back to the scene of the crime in much better shape than the injury-ravaged squad that scraped victory in October.

Miles Storey’s stoppagetime winner nicked a 2-1 win – Thistle’s first league triumph of the season – to prevent them becoming detached at the bottom of the table. Today’s trip to Firhill offers a chance to leapfrog Dundee and Archibald admits his side’s confidence has improved since that smash and grab.

He said: “Neil McCann wasn’t pleased and rightly so because we robbed them that day. Dundee deserved to win the game but they didn’t take the chances they’d made and then we stole it at the end.

“I wouldn’t go so far as to say it turned our season around but it was a massive win for us because it kept us in the pack.”

Thistle now face three big games – Dundee followed by away days at fellow strugglers Hamilton and Ross County. And Archibald added: “It could make or break how the rest of the season goes because we could take a huge lift if these next three games go our way.

“It makes a difference having the injured boys back now – it gives me decisions to make.”
