ALEX SCHALK believes David Ngog’s Champions League class is rubbing off on Ross County – by making them better players.

The former Liverpool and PSG striker formed a fruitful partnership with Dutchman Schalk as the Dingwall side ended a three-month wait for a win at Dundee in their last outing.

Schalk, who netted twice in the 4-1 triumph at Dens Park and twice the previous week as a substitute against Aberdeen, can only marvel at the Frenchman’s impact since arriving on January 23.

Manager Owen Coyle looks likely to start the pair together for a second match as Hearts come calling today.

And 25-year-old Schalk said: “Me and David have played very well together. Since the first day he came here we have just known there is something extra special there. He is the type of player who makes everyone else around him better.

“I’m very happy he’s now playing in our team and we can all benefit from his abilities.”

From a dire run in November and December, County’s prospects look a bit better after the Dens Park win slashed the gap at the bottom to three points. But Schalk is under no illusions as to how much work remains.

Ahead of today’s clash in Dingwall he said: “We had one win and it was massive to be fair, but that’s all it was – one win.

“However, with the quality we have in the squad now we are more than capable of coming out of this.”
