I’ve hit 100 now I want to secure top six

-

CHRIS CADDEN admits it’s a thrill to clock up his Motherwell ton as he would have been happy with just one.

The Fir Park midfielder made his 100th appearance for his hometown club in last week’s win at Dundee but would have settled for pulling on the shirt for the top team even once.

The 21-year-old relishes every second he stars for the Steelmen after achieving his dream of breaking in to the first team as a teenager four years ago.

Cadden said: “It was a brilliant feeling. When I was growing up and then a youth player, my goal was to play just one game at Fir Park.

“To play 100 games is a brilliant achievement. It was a really proud day for me and my family. When I came in I took each game as it came. The gaffer has trusted me which I’ve appreciated.”

Kilmarnock hit Fir Park today with Well hogging sixth spot. But only goals scored are keeping them above Killie who have a couple of games in hand.

And the playmaker added: “Every game now is crucial. If you want to get into the top six you need to beat teams like Kilmarnock at home. It looks like we are the two teams going for the top six.

“They have two games in hand on us but I prefer to have points on the board.

“If they win they’ll go above us and that’s why we will be going out to win. We know how big this game is for what we want to do this season.”
