I just need to get my head down now. Never at any stage did I think about leaving JAMES TAVERNIER

JAMES TAVERNIER is breeding bulldogs off the park and a bulldog spirit on it.

The Rangers defender will never be in the doghouse with the Light Blues legions if he lives up to his promise to Winalot by delivering the Treble in the next three years.

The full-back signed a new contract earlier this week and revealed he was motivated to stay put by the contentment he has found since moving to Scotland.

He has six goals and six assists this season and has been tipped as a Player of the Year contender.

But his pedigree performances aren’t restricted to marauding up and down the wing at Ibrox as he and childhood pal Jake Chapman have established a dog breeding business, Designer Bullies UK.

The 26-year-old will be hoping to add to his impressive stats tomorrow when Rangers travel to Hamilton before heading home to his four-legged friends.

Tavernier said: “I’ve always been into dogs. My missus and I always wanted a family pet but had to be in the right place, not an apartment, and now we have our own house.

“When I was a kid we’d a couple of little mongrels and they chewed up the house which my mum wasn’t happy about. They were named Rio and David after Rio Ferdinand and Edgar Davids.

“We don’t really do the football names in the new business. We’ve given the dogs designer names and people can have a look at our Instagram page.

“I started the business with a friend I’ve known since I was three. It’s going really well. I’m enjoying it and enjoying the dogs.

“None of my team-mates have bought one yet but I know Josh Windass is looking for a pet so I might try to persuade him.

“American Bulldogs are wonderful family dogs and have been great with my kids.

“I don’t know about taking away from the pressures of playing for Rangers because there can be a little more stress when I’m talking to my mate about the animals.

“We talk about which dogs we’re going to buy next and the figures
