FAMILY CONFIRM FIRST SIGHTING OF LIAM
CCTV shows missing stag-do Scot outside building in Hamburg
MISSING stag party Scot Liam Colgan’s worried family have confirmed a sighting of him for the first time.
There have been several reports from people who think they have seen Liam, 29, since he went missing in Hamburg in the early hours of January 11.
But CCTV footage which has now emerged of him 40 minutes after he became separated from his friends is the first to be identified as him by his family.
He is seen approaching the vehicle barrier of the famous Gruner and Jahr publishing house in the German city, where he went with 16 friends for his brother Eamonn’s stag party.
Footage seen by the family shows Liam arriving at the landmark building, in the Baumwall area, at 2:20am.
A witness reported helping Liam up some steps to the main entrance of the building after he fell over. He then tried unsuccessfully to get into the building, close to the River Elbe, before walking towards the nearby Michelwiese Park.
He headed towards the Portuguese Quarter, where the same witness helped him as he was unsteady on his feet.
Matt Searle, chief executive of the Lucie Blackman Trust, who help families whose loved ones have gone missing or died abroad, said: “This is the first sighting confirmed by the family as being Liam.
“It is only about an hour or so after he was last seen but the family sees this as positive.”
