A CHEATED husband was yesterday cleared of abducting and robbing his wife’s lover at gunpoint.

Marc Boyle, 34, had been charged with attacking Alan Greenfield and Alan’s mother Margaret, 68, after learning of his fling with wife Tracy.

Jurors heard Alan was bound, gagged and threatened with a gun during an October 2016 raid that also saw Margaret tied up at their home in Renfrew.

Boyle insisted he did not even know at the time that his wife had been cheating.

Yesterday, the jury at the High Court in Glasgow returned not proven verdicts on all charges.

Boyle, now of Thornliebank, Glasgow, looked on the verge of tears as he left the dock after being cleared.

The court heard Boyle, his wife and her lover all worked at Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

He was a porter, Tracy an auxiliary nurse and Alan was a maintenance assistant.

Boyle married Tracy in August 2013 and he told the court he “loved her to bits” .

He said he was “distraught” when he left the family home in April 2016 after their relationship broke down.

The court heard claims Boyle later asked a friend of his wife about someone called Alan and where he stayed.

He denied this, telling jurors: “I asked (the friend) if she could help us get back together.”

His lawyer Joe Barr asked Boyle: “Did you know who Alan was?”

Boyle said: “As far as I aware, he was someone from work.”

Barr asked him: “Did you suspect Alan was having an affair with Tracy?” He replied: “No.” Prosecutors said DNA evidence found in Alan’s home linked Boyle to the crime.

He lost his job as a result of being charged with the offences.
