BENIDORM: TEN YEARS ON HOLIDAY STV, 9pm EVERY year for a decade, the cast of Benidorm has trooped out to Spain’s sunny Costa Blanca to spend five months filming one of our favourite shows. How awful for them.

Over the years, we’ve heard about legendary cast karaoke nights, hordes of loyal fans who line up to be extras and the never-ending stream of guest stars – Dame Joan Collins, Nigel Havers, Madness and Bananarama to name a few. And the comedy still pulls in the ratings.

There must be something about the mix of sunburnt skin, beer and an all-inclusive buffet that keeps bringing us back.

This show celebrates 10 years of the award-winning comedy as the cast (past and present) lift the lid on some of its secrets.

The Garvey family return as Steve Pemberton, Siobhan Finneran, Sheila Reid, Ollie Stokes and Hannah Hobley talk about their roles.

There is also exclusive footage, bloopers and a sneak behind the scenes at locations such as the Solana Hotel – in reality the Sol Pelicanos.

And the comedy’s creator and writer Derren Litten takes a mobility scooter down memory lane to give us a guide to the making of Benidorm.

It’s an entertaining special and it won’t burst the bubble.

Yes the cast and crew are all great friends. Yes they are having a blast. And yes they really are one big family.

As Tony Maudsley, who plays Kenneth, says: “If you can’t have a good time in Benidorm, you can’t have a good time anywhere.”
