From Back Page know ourselves results have been disappointing since the win over Rangers. That performance and the one against Celtic set standards we have to emulate in the games ahead.

“We have been asking ourselves why we haven’t been coming up with performances like we have produced at tough venues like Easter Road, Celtic Park and Ibrox.

“We talked about the win over Rangers going into Sunday’s match. We knew we had to reach those levels again to take something from Celtic.

“We knew it was possible because we got a point there earlier in the season. The arrival of George Williams and Matty Willock has added freshness to the squad and we got influential performances from our more experienced players on Sunday.”

Defender Jason Kerr played a blinder as Saints kept a first league shutout in six attempts.

He said: “We deserved our draw 100 per cent because the boys were class. We hadn’t been at our best and hadn’t been keeping clean sheets so to go to Celtic and get one is a massive result.

“The challenge now is to produce a performance like that every week – that’s exactly what the gaffer said to us after the game.

“There is no point coming to Celtic and playing like this then allowing it to tail off. We have Ross County on Saturday so we will have to defend like we did at Celtic and hopefully take some of the chances we create.”

Kerr has started Saints’ last five games after his return from a loan spell at Queen of the South.

And the 21-year-old hopes shackling Odsonne Edouard then sub Moussa Dembele will boost his case to stay in the starting XI.

He said: “We dealt with Edouard well then they bring on Dembele who is different and an even better player. But we handled the pair of them well during 90 minutes.

“For a while they kept coming at us but we coped well and created a few chances of our own.

“It was the first time I have played at Celtic Park and at the start I was a bit nervous because it’s a big crowd. But the way we played made me feel comfortable.”
