NICK’S STAR TURN

- GARRY OWEN racing@dailyrecord.co.uk

COO STAR SIVOLA (4.15) is ready to sparkle for Nick Williams in the 188Bet Novices’ Chase at Exeter.

A classy hurdler, the gelding has been set some tough tasks in his short fencing career and was fourth behind Frodon in a Cheltenham handicap.

The six-year-old was staying on up the hill that day and should open his account in this sphere on his first try at three miles.

Colin Tizzard has hit form and he can take the novice hurdle with MOLINEAUX (3.10). The seven-year-old built on some fine efforts over timber when outpointing Le Musee over two miles at Haydock and can improve again over this extra three furlongs.

Don’t desert KALAHARI QUEEN (3.40) in the Prydis Mares’ Handicap Hurdle.

Jamie Snowdon’s five-year-old has thrived this season and will take all the beating after her excellent second to Raised On Grazeon in a strong event at Catterick.

GINGILI (4.50) can take a cracking renewal of the Devon National for Jamie Snowdon.

The eight-year-old continued his progress over fences when striking over three miles here in October and can improve again upped six furlongs after a break.

RUBY YEATS (3.00) looks a real gem in the 188Bet Mares’ Chase at Warwick.

Harry Whittington’s charge was a good second despite jumping left over an inadequate 2m 2f on her fencing bow at Taunton and can go one better on this track.

KAYF ADVENTURE (3.30) rates the safest option in the trappy Budbrooke Handicap Chase.

Phillip Hobbs’s gelding has been in decent form and will take some stopping with a repeat of his good second to the thriving Grand Vision at Wincanton.

FLY HOME HARRY (4.40) can soar for Charlie Longsdon in the staying handicap chase.

The nine-year-old bounced back when scoring cosily at Huntingdon and remains well treated thanks to Paul O’Brien’s 5lb claim.

■ Nigel Twiston-Davies reckons The New One is his leading contender at next month’s Cheltenham Festival.

The veteran is fighting fit ahead of the Stayers’ Hurdle where the trainer expects him to be suited by the step up to three miles under more restrained tactics.

The Naunton handler also runs Wholestone after his good second over course and distance in last month’s Cleeve Hurdle.
