Dogs trail goes cold

A FUNDRAISING appeal to help find missing stag party Scot Liam Colgan in Germany has raised nearly £11,000.

More than 300 people have contributed to the fund in just a fortnight to help postman Liam’s family stay in Hamburg and look for him.

The news comes as three sniffer dogs picked up the trail of the missing Scot in the city but their search for him drew a blank.

The specialist hounds were called in after a sighting of Liam, 29, was reported on Friday.

A total of £10,756 has been donated to the GoFundMe site. An update said: “Liam’s brother Eamonn and his fiancee have currently returned to Scotland for a short period to see their young children.

“They will return to Hamburg to continue the search in person shortly but ask that everyone continues to help – as they have done so far.

“We are humbled by the continued support you all offer and with this support and your local knowledge, we will find Liam together.”

Liam, from Inverness, was in Hamburg with a group of friends celebrating 33-yearold Eamonn’s upcoming marriage to fiancee Susan Dolan when he went missing on February 20.

The wedding, due to take place next month, has been postponed until he is found.

In the police dog operation, a beagle reportedly followed its nose to St Pauli subway station, near the pub Liam was last seen in.

A second dog ran through the area for more than a mile while the third tracked a scent to a nearby park.

But all three trails ran cold after five hours.

Police spokeswoman Heike Uhde said: “The search was unsuccessful and was called off.”

It was the third time dogs had been used to look for Liam. ●See www.gofundme.com/ help-find-liam-colgan
