Boyata’s eyeing upderby return

-

From Back Page but boss Brendan Rodgers revealed the stopper will be in the running to face Rangers on March 11.

He said: “Dedryck will probably be back after the weekend. So that will be great news.

“He has been top class so it would be great if he’s back for the Rangers game.

“He’s looking good doing his on field work.”

Rodgers is starting to see his injury woes ease with Patrick Roberts and Marvin Compper in the frame to face Dundee tonight.

Stuart Armstrong is expected back from surgery after the international break at the end of March but the Hoops boss can’t put a time frame on a return for Leigh Griffiths.

The hitman was sent to London last week to see a specialist in a bid to get to the root of his persistent calf problems but the club are waiting to discover the next course of action.

Rodgers said: “Stuart has stepped up the intensity of his training. Maybe over the course of the next couple of weeks he could be back in joining the group.

“But it’s probably going to be after the international break.

“Griff has seen a specialist. Of course, even when he can get back on to the field he needs to get fit. So that’s going to be an extended period really.”

Rodger is gearing his side up for the big run-in and with Europe out of the way his focus is on finishing the campaign in style.

He won’t take Dundee lightly tonight but has demanded three points.

Rodgers said: “Dundee play with confidence. They want to build the game. “The games we’ve played against them have been tough. We don’t underestimate them. We’re entering the last 10 games and want to win every one.”

‘No player should retire from international football, it should be the manager who makes that call. Brown won’t be missed’
