A KIDS’ Easter fun day was axed after it was revealed the inflatable village to be used at the event is owned by rapist Paul McMaster.

A CHILDREN’S Easter event has been cancelled after it was revealed one of the organisers is a convicted rapist.

Angry parents threatened to boycott the event at Vogrie Country Park, Midlothian, on Easter Sunday when it was found out the man supplying the inflatable village had sexually assaulted a disabled woman.

East Lothian Bouncy Castles are owned by Paul McMaster, who was convicted of raping and humiliating the 56-year-old in her home in Tranent in 1993.

The 40-year-old is registered with companies house as a director of McMaster Group Ltd.

According to records, he became a director in June last year but locals said he had been involved with the company for some time along with his wife Nicola.

McMaster was 15 when he forced his way into his victim’s home and, after sexually assaulting her, he urinated on his distressed victim.

The woman, who lived alone, needed a walking frame to get about. On the night she was attacked, McMaster forced his way into her house, undressed her and raped her.

Jailing him for five years, the trial judge said his sentence would have been longer but for his age.

McMaster also owns a waste management company called Tipit.

A local said: “This makes me feel sick. He’s had the business for years but it was in his wife’s name.

“A lot of older people in Tranent remember the crime but younger parents are just finding out and it’s caused a lot of anger.

“He was running a charity event at Vogrie country park for Radio Forth’s cash for kids but after complaints, they’ve written to people telling them it has been cancelled.”

In a video posted on Facebook before McMaster’s past was made known, police were filmed having fun with kids at an event he attended with his inflatable village.

McMaster has taken East Lothian Bouncy Castle’s page off Facebook after a backlash from locals. A woman who answered the door at his home in Prestonpans said: “We’re not interested, thank you.”

Vogrie Country Park confirmed the event had been cancelled.

Cash for Kids said they withdrew as a beneficiary of the event after “new information on the background of the owner of the company”.

Many younger parents are just finding out and it has caused a lot of anger in Tranent
