POLICE launched a probe after bones were dug up at their former stables.

The bones were found by workers at the Old Stables on Bell Street, Glasgow, during construction work.

Officers placed took the bones away for further examination earlier this week.

The building, which was built in the late 1890s, had been used to store police horses until the early 70s.

Police later established the bones were probably buried horses.

A spokeswoman said: “The items underwent further examination.

“It was established that they were bovine or equine bones.”

The category B-listed building was most recently used as a depot for Glasgow City Council’s Land and Environmental Services. Yesterday, the Government announced they would hold an inquiry into the effects on children’s health after a campaign involving celebrity chef Jamie Oliver.

He has urged the committee to look at the worryingly low prices of these drinks as well as the dozens of colourful adverts and deals on shelves enticing youngsters. A variety of energy drinks were found on sale at bargain shops, all much cheaper than traditional fizzy drinks.

At Poundstretcher, 250ml cans of V Energy drink cost just 19p, alongside Uggo Energy, Boost and Boom and Rifle. A can of Coke costs 49p. On another shelf under a bright banner, a sign read: “Wow! It’s a Deal” highlighting cans of Monster sold on sale for just 50p. YOU would think a post-workout selfie would include flushed cheeks and sweaty brows. Not in the world of celebrities.

Some of the biggest stars of music, film and television are happy to share images with their social media followers as they keep in shape.

But rarely do they look anything less than perfect.

Actress Jennifer Lopez, 48, above, looked flawless as she struck a pose in her gym tights and British singer Rita Ora, 27, above left, even had time to don her sunglasses.

Meanwhile, TV host Caroline Flack, 38, showed just why her legs are so toned. Lunges in those heels will do that to you. Others were criticised for encouraging youngsters by offering discounts for multi-buys such as Poundworld, who sell a single can of Emerge for 30p – or four for £1. They currently sell a can of Coke for 60p.

Poundland have introduced a ban on sales of the drinks to under-16s, joining all supermarket chains and Boots.

Oliver said: “19p energy drinks are clear favourites for kids and it is way too tempting for them to grab a can on their way to and from school.

“These sort of marketing ploys encourage too many kids to consume them far too easily.”

A 500ml tin contains 160mg of caffeine, equivalent to about two shots of espresso coffee.

A Savers spokesman said: “We are considering the introduction of a voluntary ban on highcaffeine energy drinks to children under the age of 16.”
