Cartoons show Nazis in Scots PoW camp

- OLIVER NORTON reporters@dailyrecord.co.uk

CARTOONS depicting Nazis in a PoW camp in Scotland are to go on public display.

The drawings were created by a prisoner at Cultybraggan in Perthshire during the final two years of World War II.

The images detail the lives of the 4000 inmates, including those from the Waffen SS, at Camp 21.

German prisoners are pictured carrying out manual labour and struggling with prison life. There are also scenes of them enjoying card games and having a snowball fight.

Historians say the 66 pages show “the humanity and spirit which transcends nationalities and ideologies”.

The Comrie Development Trust, who took over the camp near Comrie, plan to unveil the cartoons this summer.
