WATCHING footballers spitting on the pitch is bad enough.

But to witness former footballer and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher gob at a 14-year-old girl is beyond repulsive.

Carragher saw fit to shower a girl in his saliva and make her cry because he didn’t like the fact Liverpool had lost at old Trafford.

What a big, tough man you are, Mr Carragher.

Undoubtedly squirming at the footage of the disgusting incident, the former Anfield star reeled out the usual platitudes and gave an empty apology to the girl and her father.

Footballers often have difficult social lives as fans demand their attentions, treating them as deities or despising them in equal measure. But to react in such a degrading manner against a child is reprehensible.

Carragher has been suspended but there is no coming back from this. He should never appear on our screens again.

That is the least the multi-millionaire bully deserves.

The police may yet decide to punish him even further.
