EDUCATION AWARDS Art competition aimed at pupils returns for second year
WHILE the judges have started poring over the more than 400 entries for this year’s Scottish Education Awards, another competition is about to begin.
For the second year, the Daily Record has teamed up with Steven Brown Art to hold a “McCoo” art competition in conjunction with the awards.
It is aimed at all school children, who will be encouraged to create and name their own McCoo.
The competition will be split into four categories and each of the winners will be invited to attend the Scottish Education Awards, where they will receive a trophy and get the chance to meet artist Steven.
The Scottish Education Awards were jointly launched in November 2001 by the Daily Record and the Scottish Government to recognise the achievements taking place in Scottish education.
This year there will be awards for 1+2 languages, digital learning and teaching, employability and creativity across learning, family and community learning, Gaelic education, health and wellbeing, learning for sustainability, parents as partners in learning, participation, raising attainment in literacy, raising attainment in numeracy, STEM, teacher, headteacher and lifetime achievement.
The final three in each category will be invited to attend the glittering awards ceremony in June, where the winners will be revealed.
Steven Brown Art will also sponsor the Raising Attainment in Literacy Award to mark the company’s diversion into children’s literature.
