Silly activists ruined my Crufts win

- ARTHUR VUNDLA reporters@dailyrecord.co.uk

THE Scots winner of Crufts has hit back at the “silly” protestors who tried to ruin her moment in the spotlight.

Tease the whippet was named Best in Show in Birmingham on Sunday.

But the finale descended into chaos as activists from animal rights group PETA stormed the stage while the trophy was being awarded.

They carried banners saying “Crufts: Canine Eugenics”.

Owner Yvette Short, 52, from Bonnyrigg, Midlothian, picked Tease up to keep her safe as the activists rushed to spoil her moment.

She said yesterday: “That spoilt it, they scared my dog.

“They are meant to be animal lovers. That wasn’t being lovely, was it? “They are silly people.” She was still thrilled by the win, saying: “I saw the judge pointing but you just never know whether they are pointing at you or not.”
