OUR story about modest dad Darren McNiven, who rescued eight people from a fatal fire, was yesterday’s big talker online.
Darren, who battled through thick smoke to help residents of a block of flats in Grangemouth, has been nominated as a Community Hero in the Daily Record’s Our Heroes awards.
And our readers at www.dailyrecord.co.uk, on our Facebook page and on Twitter were impressed.
Margaret Anne McDermott said: “Absolute hero. So good to know there are still people out there who will help others out. What an amazing man.”
Donald Tait said: “Give that man a medal.” Yvonne Jean Innes agreed, saying: “Hero. Good man. Wish you well.”
Allan Bailey said: “He certainly needs to be recognised for his brave actions.”
Arthur Smith said: “Well done, Darren.” Gail Lockhart added: “Well done. What a true hero.”
And Lanny Mair said: “What a real hero. Well done and I hope the smoke inhalation wasn’t too bad.”
