A Hazard warning for Scots

SCOTLAND have added Belgium to their list of friendly foes to help Alex McLeish gear his squad up for their first competitive outing in the Nations League.

Superstars Eden Hazard, Kevin de Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku could be strutting their stuff at Hampden on September 7 when the Scots face a stiff final test to prepare them for the group opener against Albania three days later.

Belgium’s last visit to Hampden in 2013 killed off our World Cup qualifying hopes. Now they’ll provide one final acid test for McLeish’s new regime – which kicks off a week on Friday with a friendly against Costa Rica – before the competitive action begins against Albania on September 10.

McLeish said: “I am delighted to have secured such high-quality opposition for our free fixture date at the start of our UEFA Nations League campaign.

“As a side currently ranked in the top five in the world, Belgium are the standard to which our players should be aspiring. They set the bar in terms of what we are trying to achieve with our play.”
