WAIT FOR IT BHOYS
Celts still to decide on deals for Ibrox heroes Bain and Edouard
CELTIC’S Old Firm matchwinners Odsonne Edouard and Scott Bain will need to wait to find out if their Ibrox heroics will land them permanent deals at Parkhead. Goalscorer Edouard is set to return to PSG in the summer at the end of his loan switch
although the Hoops have first refusal on the 20-year-old if they stump up around £7million for his services.
Keeper Bain is a free agent at the end of the campaign as he is in the final months of his contract at Dundee.
But Record Sport understands Celts have yet to decide whether to make moves to secure the pair on longer-term deals.
Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers raved about the duo after Sunday’s dramatic 3-2 success against Rangers when Edouard grabbed a sensational winner while Bain produced a couple of superb saves to fire the champions to their historic fourth consecutive league victory at Ibrox.
The former Liverpool gaffer has admitted he’s keen to look at keeping the hitman and he has also been a long-term admirer of the shot-stopper as he first sounded out the 26-year-old when he was at Dens last season.
Celtic are still considering their options though and will wait until towards the end of the campaign before they put in any offers.
Edouard has previously insisted he is open to making his move permanent and admitted he is relishing being involved in a title push under Rodgers.
He said: “I am really proud and happy to be part of this team and to play under a super coach.”
Edouard is comfortable in playing a waiting game over his future and insisted his focus is on finishing the season with a flourish and going down in history for landing back-to-back trebles.
He said: “Football can change really quickly. We just have to keep training hard every day to make sure we can win the rest of the matches to win the title.”
Meanwhile, Celtic are keeping tabs on Yeovil youngster Tom James. The 21-year-old – who starred in the League Two side’s FA Cup clash with Manchester United – is also being chased by Swansea and Bournemouth.
The right-back – who would cost around £500,000 – played in the English top flight with Cardiff and was previously linked with the Hoops in January.
