Camille & Celeste

-

FASHION expert and artist Camille Lorigo, 41, agreed to go outside her comfort zone for the shoot because she had total trust in Jannica.

Camille, who ran fashion boutique Che Camille in Glasgow and now lives in London, met Jannica at an art event in Dundee in 2007 and they have been friends since.

Her daughter Celeste was 11 months old and they chose the setting of Hackney Marshes in evening twilight in September.

Camille said: “There had been a series of robberies there by teenagers on BMXs, so I visualised myself naked with young gangsters hanging around. But you just can’t overthink it and we went for it.

“We weren’t sure how Celeste would be but babies like being naked. She had a sense of fun and was really alert and she played to the camera.

“I had bark digging into my back and Celeste peed on me. I was trying not to fall out of the tree because I couldn’t stop laughing and Jannica was telling me to be serious.

“Celeste drove the picture and we just had to go with it.”

In the final image, she saw her own imperfections at first but over time, any self-doubt was overtaken by the beauty in the picture.

She said: “You see your body very differently when you have had a child. I had been a size eight most of my life. I wasn’t as confident that I had been before.

“When I first looked at the picture, I saw the dimples in my thighs and back. I had to suppress my self-judgment. But I like it more and more and appreciate it now more as a lovely, magical moment.

“My mother was very conservative and I hope for Celeste, it will encourage her to have a more accepting attitude towards nudity.”
