A FIZZY drinks addict who downs up to 30 cans a day is seeking help for her habit.

Emma Forrest stockpiles 1500 cans of juice in her kitchen and wakes up five times a night to take a swig.

The checkout operator binges on Red Bull, Monster, Irn- Bru, Lucozade and Coca-Cola.

And she said she’d rather sacrifice her relationship with her twin sister than give up the drinks.

Former gambling addict Emma consumes 200 teaspoons of sugar and 3000 calories a day in fizzy drinks.

She keeps her weight at 9st by having only one meal a day.

The 29-year-old said: “It’s a horrible addiction and I need help.

“It’s much worse than gambling. That in itself is awful to deal with, but at least I could ban myself from the bookies. I can’t ban myself from every shop in the country.

“I need energy drinks 24 hours a day. They rule my life. I feel great when I’m drinking them and terrible when I’m not.

“It all started when I was 14 and I would drink a couple in the morning to kick-start my day. Gradually, I needed them more and more.

“There is nothing I desire more in this world than fizzy drinks. If I had to, I’d even sacrifice my relationship with my twin sister.”

Emma, from Selkirk in the Borders, starts to panic when her supply runs low.

No other drinks – not even water – pass her lips.

And when she goes abroad on holiday, she takes a case of Irn- Bru and makes sure everyone travelling with her does the same so she has enough to keep her going.

Staggeringly, Emma doesn’t suffer from any health problems or issues with her teeth.

After being referred by a doctor who feared her habit will eventually cause long-term health problems, desperate Emma has agreed to see a therapist in a bid to beat the habit.

She added: “I even hide a fizzy drink in a jacket at work so I can secretly drink at the checkout, which is not allowed.”

She thinks a law should be brought in to stop children being able to buy energy drinks.
