Our expert looks on the bright side as she plans her holiday wardrobe

I HAD a lovely lunch with Barbados tourist board this week, as they wanted to tell me all about their Celtic Festival in May.

It turns out there’s a big Scottish connection on the island. Highlanders settled there in the 1700s so every year they have a big festival to celebrate all things Scottish, with bagpipes and haggis and Highland dancing. Who knew?

Anyway, it’s got me dreaming of summer holidays, sandy beaches and hot sunshine.

It seems a long way off when you open the door to snow, ice or rain every morning but even if I can’t book a holiday yet, there’s no harm in holiday wardrobe planning, is there? I’m in love with the pretty pastel colours and ruffles that are landing in the shops.

Off-the-shoulder styles are going to be a big trend this summer.

I’ve been drooling over the prettiest pink layered dresses at very.co.uk. They’ll look amazing with a bit of a tan. In the meantime, though, I’ll just settle for a few pastel accessories.

Miss Selfridge have gorgeous pastel blue and pink tote bags in store that look just as good with cosy knits as they will with your summer shorts and T-shirts.
