Gary Bollan has tracked the 33-year-old former Hearts striker since January and was alerted his club Dumbarton were keen on a deal this week.

But as Cowdenbeath already have Jordyn Sheerin, 28, on loan from junior side Kelty Hearts they can’t add another over-23 and boss Bollan said: “League rules stopped us taking things any further.”

First-half strikes from Kevin Nicoll and Jack Boyle gave the Bully Wee a 2-0 half-time lead and David Goodwillie sealed it after the break.

Clyde were reduced to 10 when Nicoll picked up a second booking 14 minutes from time.
