I hope my goals have given boss a headache

-

CRAIG MOORE hopes he has given Ayr boss Ian McCall sleepless nights as he looks to start games and grab the goals that will clinch the title.

McCall’s men travel to East Fife this afternoon with the free-scoring league leaders’ manager having to select a striking combination from a trio of in-form hitmen.

One of them is Moore and he said: “I’ve scored in my last three games so I’m doing all I can to give the manager a selection headache.

“Lawrence Shankland and Michael Moffat have been knocking goals in all season and I’ve chipped with a few as well so the competition is fierce for a starting place.

“But it’s also friendly as it does not matter who scores as long as we win.”

The 23-year-old is not thinking about a league winner’s medal just yet as he added: “The end game is winning the league but we’re only concentrating on the East Fife game.

“If we can win every game between now and the end of the season we know what the prize is. But we’ll not do that if we take our eye off the ball.

“We’re top and that makes things more difficult as everyone wants to beat you. Whoever plays for us needs to come up with the goals which stop that happening.”

Ayr have been warned they will not be facing a dispirited Methil side despite their play-off hopes being ended by Raith Rovers in midweek.

East Fife midfielder Pat Slattery said: “Our season may be in limbo but we’ll be looking to put in a performance.

“Some of the boys have contracts to play for and no one wants their season simply to fizzle out.”
