GET ME TICKET FOR CELTIC CLASH

John: Welsh legend wants to sample Old Firm and I’m in charge of briefs

RYAN GIGGS handed Declan John a return ticket to international football and the Welsh legend now wants the Rangers star to land him an Old Firm brief.

John ended a four-year absence from the Dragons line-up when he started both games for his country in their China Cup adventure.

He played 90 minutes as hat-trick hero Gareth Bale inspired Wales to a thumping 6-0 win over China in the first game and featured for an hour of the 1-0 loss to Uruguay.

The Ibrox full-back admitted it was a dream to play under Giggs, who he grew up idolising when the winger was earning superstar status at Manchester United.

New Wales boss Giggs admitted former Cardiff ace John’s form at Rangers had convinced him to give the 22-year-old a recall for his first appearance since losing to Holland in the summer of 2014.

Giggs now wants to make a trip north of the border to see John in action – and would love it to be for a derby clash against Celtic.

Ahead of today’s trip to Fir Park, John said: “Funnily enough, when I was in the airport waiting for my flight back the manager was asking me about Old Firm games.

“He was asking about tickets and dates as he wants to come and watch one of them.

“It’s always good to have a manager who takes an interest and wants to come and see you play.

“He asked me about the last Old Firm game, how it went and what it was like to play in that atmosphere.

“The manager was really interested and I told him it was tremendous and I hadn’t experienced anything like it before.

“We have the two games coming up and I think I’ll try to get him tickets for the semi-final at Hampden.

“I used to support Man United as a kid and to be working under Giggs as a manager was a great thing for me.

“He was one of my heroes growing up. I loved the way he used to play and to keep going until he was 40 was incredible.

“The amount of time he spent in the Premier League was amazing and I try to copy him in certain
