I’m here for ten in a row

Sinclair slams reports he wants out of Celts

Scott SINcLAIR has rubbished speculation linking him with a move away from celtic and insists he wants to stay for 10 in a row. The winger

has failed to hit the heights of last season when he swept the boards in the Player of the Year stakes as the Hoops romped to an Invincible domestic Treble.

As a result he has found himself out of Brendan

Rodgers’s starting 11 in recent weeks and reports down south have linked Premier League duo Brighton and Bournemouth with summer swoops for the 29-year-old. But former Manchester City and Aston Villa star Sinclair insists he is going nowhere and he’s in the happiest place of his career. He said: “It was just speculation, maybe because I didn’t play in the last couple of games – but I love this club and I love being here. “This is why I chose to play for Celtic. I’m happy and I’m enjoying my football. “There’s always going to be speculation but I need to get my head down and get back to the form I showed the fans last year. “I have been to so many clubs and this is where I’ve been at my happiest. Leaving here would be out of the question. I want to be here for 10 in a row. “The missus is settled and loves it up here – she loves the city and everything about it. We have another little one on the way as well. I’m in a happy place right now.” Sinclair has still managed to net 17 times in 45 appearances this season but admits his form has dipped. With the club coasting towards a seventh successive title and on course for another treble he is determined to reclaim his place in the starting line-up. Sinclair said: “I’m still confident I can score goals and play well but it’s just putting that on to the pitch and giving the fans something to cheer about. I set my standards so high, winning Player of the Year and as a team we won an Invincible Treble, so it was an unbelievable year and those are the standards everyone expects now.

“That’s fair enough and it’s about proving that, going out and performing.”

Meanwhile, Rodgers is set to cement keeper Scott Bain’s position in the Celtic squad for the long term.

The Hoops boss has dropped the biggest hint yet he’s ready to deal the shot-stopper in on the back of his performances since joining on loan from Hibs.

Bain, 26, will be a free agent at the end of the season but won’t be short of suitors after going from the building sites to a starring role at Ibrox.

Rodgers said: “I’ve spoken to Scott at length about the opportunity he could have here and he’s a good example of a player other teams might look at and think he’s too small.

“However for me, in terms of how we work, he’s perfect. His first game for us at Ibrox was a great demonstration of personality, technique and composure under pressure.

“His profile is well suited to being here. He’d already done well at Dundee but, for whatever reason, found himself out of the squad.

“We’ve been able to bring him here though and that’s been absolutely brilliant for us – and for Scott. He’s a very grounded personality and I can’t imagine ever falling out with him.

“His story is fabulous, from working on a building site to this. He has done the dirty work and when players get an opportunity after going through those times they really want to grasp it.”
