Here we snow again
Supply-chain staff losing out on rights Spring has sprung but someone forgot to let the weather know as winter blasts back
MILLIONS of workers risk missing out on basic rights because they work for outsourced companies so cannot challenge minimum wage or holiday pay abuses, according to the TUC.
They called on the Government to give supplychain staff the right to challenge their parent employer.
Research for the TUC estimated 3.3million people are employed through outsourced firms, 615,000 by franchise businesses and at least one million by recruitment agencies, umbrella companies and personal service companies.
The TUC said employers “shouldn’t be allowed to wash their hands of their responsibilities”. HEAVY snow is expected to hit Scotland today as winter returns again.
Despite most of the country enjoying a cracking Easter Sunday, a wet weather front will move north from England and Wales today turning into heavy snow as it reaches Scotland.
A Met Office yellow “be aware” warning is in place today until just before midnight tonight for the central belt, Tayside and Fife, Grampian, Highlands and Eilean Siar, south-west Scotland and Lothian and Borders.
Several inches of snow are possible, mainly over ground 650ft or above, with drifting in strong winds.
Forecasters have warned the public to expect a small chance of travel delays, and even cities including Glasgow and Edinburgh could see a small amount of snow lying.
Temperatures are expected to be lowest tonight in the northern Highlands, dipping to -5C.
The Borders are likely to be the worst hit with a small chance that some rural communities could become cut off and the possibility of three inches of snow accumulating.
The Met Office have said while snow should turn into rain for most parts of the country tomorrow it will stay unsettled for the rest of the week with showers or longer spells of rain for Scotland.
It is expected to remain cold in the far north of the country.
