A BRAVE teenager who suffered a broken neck in a horror hit-and-run has made a fantastic recovery and is now able to walk again.

Roisin Walker, 14, was one of five children struck by a car as they stood on a pavement in Castlemilk, Glasgow.

She is being treated at Glasgow’s Royal Hospital for Children and has now taken her first steps since the incident.

A man, 21, who is believed to have been the target of the attack, was also hit by the vehicle. The others kids struck by the car suffered minor injuries.

The incident happened on Stravanan Road on Saturday, March 24, at about 3.30pm.

The car involved, a silver Vauxhall Astra, was later found burnt out – about a mile away in Carmunnock.

Detectives are hunting for the driver and are treating the incident as attempted murder.

The Astra struck the man then drove into the group before continuing along Stravanan Road and hitting a parked Volkswagen Passat.

Police are following a number of lines of inquiry. They are continuing to review CCTV footage and carry out door-to-door interviews.

The five pals had been in Glasgow city centre and went to shops on Stravanan Road for food at 3.30pm.

The Astra drove into them, battering Roisin to the ground before rolling over her.

She underwent emergency surgery at hospital but her sister Jamieleigh, 21, told BBC Scotland that Roisin is recovering well and is back on her feet.

Jamieleigh posted on Facebook last week: “Well, my amazing baby sister is finally out of her operation.

“Surgery has went well and she is slowly on the mend.

“Fingers crossed her long recovery goes well with no complications and she can get back to normality.

“Thanks again everyone for your support – we greatly appreciate it.

“Please keep sharing as much as possible so we can find the culprits who did this.”

Later, Jamieleigh, 21, wrote: “This girl honestly amazes me. She has been through so much the past few days and still manages to put a smile on her face and power through it like a champion.

“We will start to sit Roisin up on her bed more and more each day so she can get used to it.

“Hopefully everything goes well and she will be back walking about (towering over me) in no time.”

Jamieleigh urged people to share her Facebook post and help police track down the people responsible for the attack.
