And elsewhere, Sophie has a job interview. EASTENDERS

BBC1, 8pm THERE were sad scenes on Friday as Joyce was discovered cold and lifeless in bed. Now Ted is raw with grief, and Bernadette offers to help him with organising the funeral. Ted also needs to pluck up the courage to tell his children what’s happened.

Meanwhile, Kat suggests her, Stacey and Mo start a cleaning business to solve all their money troubles. And Sharon hopes a family lunch will build bridges with Phil. UNHOLY Aidan Gillen as Dave DAVE ALLEN AT PEACE

BBC2, 9pm SWEARY, smutty, irreverent gags were all part of what made Dave Allen one of the comedy greats – and what brought about the downfall of his career.

The legendary Irish joker was a trailblazer, whose late-night BBC2 series Dave Allen at Large, full of stories and skits from his famous bar stool, won rave reviews.

But his career was brought to an end when he used the F-word in an innocuous joke.

In homage to his original TV show, this biopic dramatises his life, from his childhood into his 40-year career.

Game of Thrones star Aidan Gillen plays the comic, who died, aged 68, in 2005.

Drama is interspersed with Aidan re-enacting some of Dave’s most famous skits and stories.

As a David’s childhood plays out, we see him and his brother disciplined with the cane by a nun (Pauline McLynn of Father Ted fame).

Then we find out how he famously lost half a finger – although in later years, we only ever heard outrageous stories about it being shot off by a firing squad or dissolved in a glass of whiskey.

“You’ll never be stuck for a story,” says his dad (played by Tommy Tiernan).

“What kind of idiot chooses the truth over a good story?”

That’s advice Dave clearly took to heart, as we clearly see in this exploration of how his comedy genius was shaped by the tragic loss of his brother, his father, and his finger.

And how he faced anger from the church, the IRA and finally the TV studios.
