QUOTE OF THE DAY

‘It’s nowhere near good enough. Rangers are far too big a club to have an apprentice in charge – we need a proper leader now’

-

to Rangers to stop Celtic winning the Treble. It would be a sad indictment of the poor state of Scottish football if a team as poor as Celtic won a double treble. Celtic have shown their true level with embarrassing showings in Europe year after year.”

That tackle on Scott Brown by Ross County’s Andrew Davies was also up for debate.

Paul Bannerman, Shotts, said: “It was an assault on Brown by Davies and should come with a lengthy ban. If it had been Brown who’d made that challenge then some would be demanding the death penalty so let’s see what punishment is dished out.”

Harry Oliver, Bishopbriggs, said: “It was a shocker and should see Davies banned for a long time. Brown is hard but fair. That challenge was a disgrace and could have caused a serious injury.”

William King, Hamilton, said: “Brendan Rodgers slammed Craig Levein for speaking out against a tackle from Brown on Harry Cochrane and said managers shouldn’t comment on other club’s players. Yet he’s just done that with Davies. He can’t have it both ways.”

Alfie Mullin, London, said: “Scott Sinclair said he wants to be at Celtic for 10 in a row but if he continues with his form he won’t be around to see it.”

A bold call next as John Scott, Grassmoor, said: “Given the state of both Dundee teams surely it now makes sense for the birth of Dundee City FC.

“Our top league could have two teams with crowds over 50,000 and potentially four reaching 20,000 each. For a country our size that’s not too shabby.

“There’s a serious chance both could be swallowed up in the lower leagues or worse go out of business.”

Finally a sentiment echoed throughout football as Alan McGaw, Alloa, said: “I’d like to wish Ray Wilkins all the best after his heart attack.

“It doesn’t matter what team you support, I’m sure everyone is hoping this legend of a footballer pulls through. He’s in my prayers.”
