ROSS’SFIRM MOTIVATION

-

BY GORDON PARKS ROSS McCRORIE admits is his race back into Rangers’ first team has been driven by the upcoming Old Firm clash.

The Scotland Under-21 midfielder’s recovery from a foot injury is well timed ahead of the Scottish Cup semi a week on Sunday.

McRorie was an unused sub in the 2-2 weekend draw at Motherwell and he revealed a starting spot at Hampden has been a huge motivation.

He said: “I’ve enjoyed playing in games against Celtic at any age level and it’s one everyone at the club is really looking forward to.

“It will be difficult but those are the occasions you want to be involved in.

“The fans deserve to be getting back to finals and enjoying success, hopefully we can give them that.”

The 20-year-old had been sidelined since picking up the injury in the goalless draw with the Hoops back on December 30 and admits it put the brakes on cementing his place as a key man for boss Graeme Murty.

He said: “It’s been really frustrating, especially after a good run in the first team, which is what I’d always worked towards.

“I felt like I’d been playing well when the injury flared up and disrupted my progress.

“I sustained it at the start of December and played through it, thinking it would settle down, but it didn’t happen so I was told to rest up completely.

“As soon as I could I threw myself into the rehab process and thankfully I’m back up and running now.”
