JACK ROSS was involved in a bust-up with Csaba Laszlo after St Mirren’s promotion party was wrecked at Tannadice. The Saints gaffer was caught

FROM BACK PAGE up in a touchline spat with Dundee United boss Laszlo after the Tangerines edged out the Premiership-bound Paisley men 1-0 in bad-tempered tussle on Tayside.

The Buddies still need just one point from their last four games to clinch the title but Ross won’t be inviting Laszlo around to celebrate after the Hungarian was accused of launching a verbal volley at Buddies goalkeeping coach Jamie Langfield.

Ross said: “He’s not my cup of tea. There were no words exchanged by me at the end. He said something inappropriate to one of the members of my staff.

“What he said to my staff was unacceptable. What did he say? You’ll have to ask him, good luck with that.”

Laszlo hit back and said: “He has to look first at his team. I think we must be fair to each other and I didn’t talk badly.

“He has to ask his own person what he said. He is a young manager with emotion but I don’t think what happened is worth talking about. I didn’t say anything inappropriate. What he told me, I told him back.”

Saints manager Ross is keen to get over the finishing line.

He said: “People who were there will know that we didn’t look like a nervous team.

“This team coped with worse pressure last season when we were trying to stay in the league. They have dealt with the pressure of being top of the league all season.

“The boys will be okay. It’s human nature to be disappointed right now but we have put ourselves in the position where we have five opportunities to get a point to win the league.

“Tonight was the first one to pass us by but we have four more, including three at home where we’ve lost once in 14 months. I’m sure every other side in the Championship would take our position.

“I would like to have won it last Saturday. I am sure people will like the idea of doing it at home but I honestly don’t care where it happens.”

United struck early through Billy King to remain in the play-off spots.

Laszlo said: “We showed pride to make sure St Mirren didn’t celebrate winning the league at our stadium. I am fair and wish St Mirren all the best.

“It looks like they will win the league. I just hope we’ll meet in the Premiership next season.”
