Electric Ando all over Wright on night

-

GARY ANDERSON smashed his way into the top four of the Unibet Premier League with a big win over Peter Wright.

The Flying Scotsman took Snakebite apart taking the opening five legs on the way to a 7-2 victory in Sheffield last night.

Players produced a fitting applause tribute to Eric Bristow before Anderson sank Wright.

He said: “Tonight was going okay until the doubles started missing again. Last week I was terrible on the doubles and it was the same at the weekend.

“But tonight it was more like it apart from a couple of legs at the end. I could have won by more. The 144 in the second leg was when I thought a good night was on for me.

“But later on I was miles off on the double 12 that blew the whitewash. The main thing is I won and got it done.”

Anderson took the opening leg before a wonderful 144 with double 12 finish broke Wright’s throw. Ando then produced three more leg wins to take complete control of the clash.

Wright battled back with two late legs but Anderson wrapped up a vital win with double 16.

Snakebite returned in the final match of the night and ended on a high with a 7-2 thrashing of his own against Raymond van Barneveld.

The Dutchman managed one leg more in the opener he lost 7-3 to Daryl Gurney.

Michael van Gerwen made it eight wins on the trot by trouncing Simon Whitlock 7-1 and world champion Rob Cross defeated Michael Smith 7-5.
