STAR OUT TO AVOID TREBLE
Park boss Steve Robinson while on trial last summer.
And he readily admits his inaugural campaign has more than vindicated his decision to try his luck north of the border with two domestic cup finals far exceeding his expectations.
Not bad for a player who wasn’t even playing in the professional ranks last season.
Kipre has played every single minute en route to both cup finals after making his debut in a 5-1 demolition of Queen’s Park nine months ago.
The stalwart said: “Everything that has happened at Motherwell this season was not what I was expecting.
“It has turned out to be so much better. I am very proud to play for this club.
“I did not expect to play every game and to reach the Final of the two cup competitions. “This season has been
absolutely amazing. It has also been a great few weeks for me. I am a very happy man.”
Kipre has established himself as a firm favourite among the Motherwell supporters who even have their own song for him.
The Lanarkshire faithful chant his surname over and over in homage to their new defensive hero. And Kipre added: “The song makes me feel very proud. Every time the Motherwell supporters sing my name it gives me loads of motivation.”
However, the one thing Kipre is keeping under wraps are his pre-match superstitions.
Kipre refused to divulge any rituals for fear of jinxing Well’s attempts to lift the trophy.
Not since they beat Dundee United 4-3 in an epic 1991 final that went to extra time have the club won the competition.
But he vowed to lift the lid on everything should Motherwell defy the odds and shatter Celtic’s bid to create another slice of Scottish football history.
Kipre said: “I do have some superstitions but I don’t want to say what they are. I will keep them all to myself.
“If Motherwell win the Scottish Cup I will reveal all my superstitions.”
