Woman, 24, dies after crash
A STUDENT has died in hospital after being knocked down by a car.
The 24-year-old woman suffered a serious head injury in the crash at Glasgow University on Tuesday evening.
She was taken to the city’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where she died yesterday.
The woman attended Glasgow International College, which teaches foreign students before they move on to degrees at the University of Glasgow.
A spokeswoman for the college said: “Our thoughts are with our student’s family and friends and our focus now is on supporting them, along with our students and staff.”
The woman was crossing University Avenue near the junction with Southpark BY PAUL WARD reporters@dailyrecord.co.uk Avenue when she was hit by a Ford Fiesta being driven by a 42-year-old.
Police said he was unhurt but badly shaken.
Glasgow University are offering counselling to staff and students affected by the tragedy.
A spokeswoman said: “We are deeply saddened that a student at our partner institution, Glasgow International College, has died as a result of a road traffic accident.
“We wish to express our heartfelt condolences to her family and friends. We are doing all we can to work with police on understanding the circumstances of the incident.”
Police asked witnesses to the crash to get in touch on 101.
