NASHVILLE FAREWELL TOUR

SSE HYDRO, GLASGOW

-

THEY were crying into their stetsons and boots at the Hydro as fans bid an emotional goodbye to the stars of the hit drama from the US.

For six years, the series all about the highs and lows of the country music world has delighted fans and has made chart stars of the cast, mostly musicians of varying degrees of success.

The soundtrack albums have been flying off the shelves and down the broadband pipe and they’ve toured arenas on both sides of the Atlantic. But with the series just finished filming, the current tour is their last and they bowed out in style.

Charles Esten (Deacon in the show), Clare Bowen (Scarlett), Sam Palladio (Gunnar), Jonathan Jackson (Avery) and Chris Carmack (Will) made their third visit to Glasgow, and had an even more raucous a welcome as the fans came out for the farewell.

As has been the case with previous shows, Carmack is the most natural performer of the five regulars on the concert show and has a real frontman swagger which the crowd lapped up. But Jonathan Jackson, the least country singer in the group, has the best live voice.

But they’re all accomplished performers and it’s magical to see the heart of the show recreated right in front of you.

There are moments where the setlist seemed like it could do with a refresh but they kept true enough to the heart of the show.

The cast will move on to new acting gigs and will surely keep touring as solo artists – and they’ll be guaranteed a

warm welcome in Scotland.
