GARY HITS JACKPOT
Treble joy for Scot Anderson
GARY ANDERSON hit the Premier League jackpot last night with a full house in Holland.
The Scot hammered Daryl Gurney 7-3 to make it three wins out of three in 24 hours in Rotterdam.
Having beaten Michael Smith and world champion Rob Cross on Wednesday, Anderson took care of the Northern Irishman.
The Scot is on the verge of the play-offs at London’s O2 next month after his scintillating six-point haul.
Anderson said: “It’s the jackpot. Last year in Rotterdam I played Raymond van Barneveld and the support he got on home soil was incredible.
“I don’t think anyone could have beaten him on that night but this was bY cRaig sWaN more like it. I really feel as though I am starting to warm up. The body is feeling much better.
“For five or six months I had been walking about feeling a bit crippled and it knocked everything back but these two nights have been all right.”
Like Anderson, fellow Scot Peter Wright kept up his momentum.
Snakebite sank Michael van Gerwen on Wednesday and returned to the Ahoy Arena to grab a battling 6-6 draw with Cross.
World champion Cross recovered from his Anderson setback the previous evening to surge into a winning position but Wright roared back to nick a point.
Smith strengthened his play-off hopes with a sizzling 7-1 win over Aussie Simon Whitlock.
Bully Boy said: “I couldn’t afford to lose three on the bounce, everyone was catching up, so I needed that to keep the points coming to get to the O2.”
In the penultimate match van Barneveld defeated fellow Dutchman van Gerwen 7-5.
Gurney hit back from his defeat to Anderson in stunning fashion – handing Whitlock his second 7-1 thrashing of the night.
